World Heritage Inscription
On July 30, 2010, Papahānaumokuākea was designated as the first mixed UNESCO World Heritage site in the United States. Recognized for its globally outstanding natural and cultural features, an official World Heritage inscription ceremony for Papahānaumokuākea was held on Dec. 3, 2010. More than 400 people attended the ceremony including Assistant Secretaries of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Interior, and State. This 10-minute long video provides highlights of remarks and presentations during the inscription.
