10th Anniversary RAMP

The return of the 10th Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Reef Assessment and Monitoring Program cruise on Sept. 29, 2010 marked a decade of concentrated research in Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. This well attended media event focused on 10 years of Reef Assessment and Monitoring Program (RAMP) cruises to Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, the significance of 10 Years of ocean protection created by the establishment of the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Coral Reef Ecosystem Reserve, and the latest coral bleaching conditions.

 

All three Honolulu television news stations, the Star-Bulletin and the Associated Press covered a press conference on Sept. 29, 2010 on board NOAA ship Hi'ialakai. Representatives of NOAA/Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and NOAA's Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center spoke about coral reef assessment and monitoring, coral bleaching and the 10th anniversary of the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Coral Reef Ecosystem Reserve.
