PMNM hosts Climate Change Workshop

On June 12-14, 2012 PMNM hosted a workshop to summarize the current understanding of climate change impacts on Monument resources in order to develop adaptive management strategies. The workshop brought together 30 experts from Hawaiʻi with relevant expertise in management, culture, and science.

Group discussions focused on:
  1. identifying potential climate change impacts on both the ecological and cultural resources of the Monument
  2. developing a research and monitoring strategy to survey climate change impacts within the Monument
  3. comparing various management responses in terms of their feasibility and effectiveness
  4. identifying key opportunities to engage diverse audiences in strategic policy, outreach and education efforts.
